    What a shame.

So just because YOU know these “very basic points”, they’re not helpful to “most of us”?

Barring the fact that there is no “us” on the internet, you realize that’s a pretty arrogant worldview, right?

Again, you make it sound like this goes for EVERYONE because somehow, if these tips were written in article EVERYONE knows, and EVERY employer will try to connect with you on a personal level and pay less attention to your credentials, and that’s just not true.

Well, I’m pretty sure people have common sense.
You’re just inducing a pitiful internet argument.

These aren’t the kind of tips I was looking for. Most of us already know these very basic points to interviews. Not helpful.

Because it’s “all over the internet” there are NO employers who would like to see a a cover letter and ALL OF THEM think it’s a contrived idea. Again, dude, your worldview isn’t that wide. There are lots of people out there who don’t wear the appropriate makeup to interviews, and if from this video some of those people tone down their distracting makeup and style, remember their resume and snag a job, why wouldn’t it be good to go over basics?

Take The Advice Or Don’t Take The Advice, That’s It. Maybe It’s Helpful For Some People, Maybe It’s Not. Sorry If It’s Not.

I feel like for a lot of us this is commonsense, but the fact still remains that there are a lot of younger people who are just starting to look for their first job who have no idea what the do’s and don’ts are for interviews or job hunting in general.

I think I would like the new channel if it wasn’t so cheesy like the tv talk shows that didn’t make it very far

And the personalized letter thing is out of date. Because it’s all over the internet, interviewers may see it as contrived. You have to think outside of the box in this day and time to find a job. THAT would have been a helpful tip, not “oh don’t smell and look frumpy, have resume in hand, etc” thats like a given….

These are very basic non helpful points. It seems as if it came from an About.com article. What they neglect to tell you is that being “too professional” can come off as fake and contrived. Here is a tip, be approachable and relaxed, connect on a personal level, that how I have gotten most of my jobs. It had nothing to do with my experience/education. But my personality. They should have focused more on networking like Linkdin and the like.

Lovely lady and well meant advice, but all of these tips are so blatantly obvious that I actually feel insulted. I know this was not your intention, but this video sounds like you’re assuming that your viewers have the common sense of a three-year-old. Anybody who doesn’t know these very basic requirements yet is not ready for the working world. Because trust me, a good employer will find out very soon that there’s nothing but hot air behind that pretty facade.
