This is so helpful. I have social anxiety and it has created a barrier that
keeps me from making a lot of friends. Thank you!

I’ll have to pass this on to my sister in law for her and her daughters to
    watch and discuss! Thank you!

Also, regarding shy people? There’s a GREAT book called “The Introvert
Advantage: How to Thrive in an Extrovert World” by Marti Olsen Laney Psy.D.
I’m an introvert from a family of introverts – it was super helpful in
getting me to understand why I am the way I am :)

As an English (as a foreign language) teacher, I’ve had a lot of trouble
with shy people for a few first years. I’ve never been shy, but I was kind
of forced to make friends quickly as I was moved around from school to
school frequently (16 total, from preschool to college).

But as a teacher I kept trying to force shy people out of their shells and
in hindsight that was VERY disrespectful. I regret having done it with so
many students who ultimately felt intimidated by me because of that
aggressive “be outspoken, it’s fun” kind of attitude I had with them. It
took me years and a bit of reading about social anxiety and other issues of
the mind for me to finally respect these people and help them feel as
comfortable as possible in my classroom.

Thank you. Being shy is not a bad trait. I’ve been shy growing up and as a
kid, it was looked at as a bad thing. I’ve began to think that something
was wrong but as I grew up, I started to accept who I am. I don’t look down
on shy people but try to make them feel comfortable :)

    I am shy :D
I think it can be really cute as well.
But sometimes, shyness becomes fear, that’s when I put in effort to remind
me what I want and if being scared helps.

I am sometimes a shy person when I don’t know anyone and I don’t wanna talk
to that person. Confidence will come from within

I was very shy in HS and the best advice I got in college was to leave my
door open in my dorm and people talked to me! I got more used to it or
forced myself to go talk to people even though I was afraid. It gets easier
and easier after you do that! I love these girls and their advice is
    awesome too!

So inspiring! I have always been shy and have social anxiety, which
definitely stops me from doing so many things I would love to do. You three
spoke very well and I totally agree :) xxx
