When i wear my cultural clothing and ‘accessories’ i get made fun of and
ridiculed to no end. The second a white girl puts it on it suddenly becomes
chic, edgy and fashionable. I’m so sick of this bullshit, I hope these
coachella bitches choke on their damn feathers. #culturalappropriation

A lot of u people babbling about michelle being disrespectful by wearing
“bindhis” are not even authentic south asian Hindus. I am from Nepal, i am
a hindu and i think its awesome that people are interested in our culture.
Most of the stuff are just body gems. Only the one on the middle is a tika.
So stop being so uptight about everything.

Lmao are ppl really getting offended by the bindi? Hahahah I bet not one of
them is Indian. As an Indian, I can tell you that a bindi can be worn by
ANYBODY on anything ethnic. Wear it on western attire… Nobody cares.
Though u might get glances in India of u wore them with western wear….
Not cuz it’s culturally inappropriate, but cuz it’ll seem a bit bizarre. It
is most definitely NOT just worn by married women. I wear them too when I’m
all dressed up in sari, salwar kameez, Anarkali suit etc. Get a grip ppl!
Don’t propagate bs when u yourself don’t know jack shit abt it. Loved the
video, Michelle and the others :)

I apologize if I offended anyone here by mistakenly appropriating your
culture. It was not my intention. I love sharing things that inspire me. I
will be more careful next time :) Peace + Love ∞

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs, but please refrain
from attacking others. I want this channel to be a safe place where we can
all discuss (even debate) without having to resort to name calling and
bullying. Love + Peace to all of you :)

Amusing how everyone is throwing around the word “racism” and using it
completely out of context. “Racist” does not apply because you’re upset she
used body gems in the video. She’s not hating on any cultures, get over

To all the white people telling what’s wrong with this video, let me tell
you something, please don’t bother talking about a subject that you are not
    aware of.You don’t have a culture,so you don’t know how it feels.You don’t
have the rights to ridicule someone for their culture & their customs, nor
do you have the rights to adopt some of the ‘cool’ parts from that same
culture whenever you feel it’s ‘trendy’.
& to you +Michelle Phan ,I am astonished by your audacity of justifying
yourself. You are telling that the third eye also belongs to some other
cultures, here’s a information for you,it also belongs to the Gods &
Goddesses of one of the oldest civilization of the world,India.
& you are not an expert on Desi adornments,so keep your opinion to

as a fan who actually cares, i’m not afraid to criticize the cultural
appropriation in this video. the use of the “body jewelry” in that way uses
south asian culture and minimizes it to some gems on a forehead to look
~spiritual~ and “trendy”. all i can say is i’m disappointed mish :(

This is culture appreciation and admiration. people shouldn’t get offended
at this but embrace it! learning and sharing cultures is a part of being
    human! I think it’s beautiful

Christen’s forehead gem was not a bindi. It represented the adornment of
the third eye (hence why I’m also wearing third eye sunglasses) If I were
recreating an Indian bridal look, I would totally use a bindi and talk
about the history behind it. I’ve done this with the Dia de los Muertos
look and many others. Culture is meant be shared and inspire. Calling this
cultural appropriation means you are labeling our form of self expression.
If this video offended you, I apologize, however just know that none of us
had the intention to offend. We only to inspire all of you to express
yourself by unleashing your creativity. Love + Peace to all of you.

Jeezz!! Everyone getting offended over Bindi, you need to take a good look
at yourself. You might be doing a lot of things that are from other
cultures. I am an Indian born and raised in India, and trust me, it’s NOT
AT ALL INAPPROPRIATE. Bindi is not only worn for spiritual purpose. Even in
India, a lot of people wear Bindi for decoration purpose. Hell, as kids, we
applied it to dolls and furniture while playing. You also wear Bindi during
festivals, weddings, dance etc. In fact, there are hardly any people in
India at this moment who treats Bindi sacredly and wear it for spiritual
purposes. Stop trying to spread wrong message when you are not yourself
aware of your own culture. Most of the people getting offended are not even
staying in India, they are usually the American-Indians, who think they
know Indian culture too well because their ancestry once belonged there.
If a culture is presented in a positive way, I don’t see anything wrong in
it. It’s globalization, the world is growing and mixing at a fast pace.
Stop acting like you are from stone age.
